Gloria Moore, CPM, LDEM

Primary Midwife and Owner - She/Her

Gloria is an intuitive and kindhearted midwife who strives to always be learning. To her, you have just as much to teach her as she has to teach you, and she values each relationship she has with her clients. She began attending births in 2011 as a doula and birth assistant and opened her practice as a direct entry midwife in 2014. Gloria has attended over 300 births.

Gloria is married to Andy, a red-bearded philosopher and gifted woodworker. Together they have three children, Jack, Evie, and Finn. All three born at home with love and power. 

Gloria enjoys her family, camping in the mountains, being outdoors, drinking coffee, and exploring various creative outlets like pottery and painting.

Gloria is a licensed direct entry midwife (LDEM) and certified professional midwife (CPM).

Gloria is a graduate of the Midwives College of Utah.

Gloria is CPR and NRP certified.

Ashley Finley

Student Midwife - She/Her

Ashley is a beloved doula in the Salt Lake Valley and has answered the call to become a midwife. We are so lucky and honored to have her on our team!

Ashley is NRP certified.

Maddie Steele

Student Midwife - She/Her

Maddie is an SLC transplant from the magical Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. She found her way to midwifery through her connection to the natural world and a desire to help educate and empower birthing people. She moved here in an effort to begin her journey in birth work and explore the west and has spent the past 3 years in Utah cultivating relationships, furthering her education, attending births as a doula and trainee, and exploring.

Collaborating Midwives

Christine Larson, CPM, LDEM

She/Her

Christine Larson, CPM, is a Licensed Direct Entry Midwife that has been a birthworker in Utah since 2011. She has worked as a birth doula, placenta encapsulation specialist, birth assistant and midwife. 

Christine is a second generation midwife, trained by her own mother. She worked as a Primary midwife at Pearl Midwifery as well as Two Leaves Midwifery birth center, before starting her own practice in 2018. Christine serves within the Salt Lake, Utah, Summit, Tooele Counties and surrounding areas.  

Christine is gentle and loving. She is a steady, intuitive, solid midwife who practices with humility, integrity, and a passion for undisturbed birth and autonomy. Her relationships with her clients tend to extend far beyond 6 weeks postpartum and into long-lasting friendships.

Christine lives in Stansbury, Utah with her husband, Zach, and their three daughters, Olive Elisabeth, Ruby Juniper and Rosemary Moon. Each of her daughters were born peacefully at home. When she’s not attending births, you can find her out on hikes with her family, curating elaborate hangouts with her friends, or baking vegan treats in her kitchen. She finds joy in the quiet, simple moments like going on walks with her toddler or enjoying a cup of coffee.

Cristina Mclennon, DEM

She/Her

Cristina McLennan, DEM, first found her love of birth in 2014 while living in Uganda. She was working in a rural clinic when she was invited to be present with a powerful mama in labor. It was a beautiful and pivotal day that shattered Cristina’s preconceived and fearful notions surrounding birth. Cristina began serving Utah communities in 2018. She has worked in birth centers and client homes as a birth doula, birth educator, birth assistant, and midwife. Cristina is a compassionate provider, who loves getting to know her clients holistically. She is filled by supporting each client’s unique process. Cristina is also a certified recreational therapist and yoga teacher. When she isn’t at a birth, you can find her on her bike, climbing a mountain, traveling, spending time with her pup and those she loves, appreciating and creating art, and eating delicious food.

Talya Bennion, DEM

She/Her

Talya Bennion, DEM says, “I honor birth as an incredible, natural process which our bodies and our babies innately know how to navigate in divine partnership. Birth should be approached holistically, accompanied by the belief that all the pieces of our being are deeply interconnected. My aim as a midwife is to offer unbiased information so individuals can make the best decisions for their bodies, their babies, and their families. I strive to meet individuals where they are to provide each woman with personalized support. It is an honor to be a part of these sacred, life-altering moments.”

Misty Beesley, CPM, LDEM, CLS

She/Her

Misty is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), Licensed Direct Entry Midwife (LDEM), and a Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS). She has worked with multiple midwifery practices and birth centers in California and Utah but ultimately landed on creating a slower paced, intentional, community midwifery practice here in Utah. Salt Lake Midwifery strives to maintain focus on establishing connected and trusting relationships with clients while providing safe, collaborative, and highly skilled care. Misty strives to create connections for her clients as desired, so that we can parent with a village.
